Tolerance stacking between mass-produced machined parts can often result in unwanted movement, leading to distracting rattles, inconsistencies, and a generally poor fit. The Precision Shim Kit is an engineered solution designed to eliminate this “slop” by addressing both lateral (side-to-side) and vertical play, resulting in a superior, high-performance feel.
Two-Part Solution for Total Stability
This kit provides a comprehensive, two-pronged approach to creating a tighter fit:
- Lateral Shims: The precision-cut metal shims are designed to fit into the side pockets of the lower component. When bonded with the included mild epoxy, they eliminate side-to-side wobble between the upper and lower halves.
- Vertical Tension Screw: The brass-tipped set screw installs into the lower component, providing a stable, adjustable resting point for the upper. This upward pressure completely eliminates vertical shift.
The brass tip is a significant upgrade over traditional nylon-tipped screws, as it will not compress, deform, or wear down over time, ensuring a consistent and reliable fit for the life of the product.
